Achilles tendon pain is a typical sport injury
The Achilles tendon is both the thickest and the strongest tendon in the human body. It is mainly used when the foot is pushed off the ground and is permanently exposed to large loads. Many sports, such as running, playing tennis and soccer, often cause irritation and subsequent Achilles tendon pain. General heel pain is also often associated with injury or inflammation of the Achilles tendon. Such an injury can affect anyone and turn out to be very persistent and lengthy. The therapy options are relatively good today, so that an injury to the Achilles tendon only rarely means the end of a sports career for professional athletes. (vb)
